INDECENT EXPOSURE; CAUSES AND REMEDY

It is pertinent to remark that the origination/causes of all indecent exposures are not only from the family but also the bad company our children do keep. It is a truism that when a goat that doesn’t eat yam begins to follow those that eat yam, definitely it will learn how to eat yam. These bad eggs may be their friends at school. Due to series of abuse from those friends, the child will begin to adapt to their way of life, in order to please them or to prove them wrong.

These abuses may come in so any ways; they may call you all types of insulting names, mock you or discriminate you, even to the extent of boycott their movement with you. All these abuses do come, not for any reason but because, they want you to stop putting on decent attire and begin to put on half naked cloth and join the category of show my private parts.

Recently, the research carried on peer group influence, the statistics of 60 percent of the social ills or evil our children exhibits today, were learnt from their friends. The ugliest aspect of this is that, these children will be dressing decently anytime they get home, but at school or any time they are off home, with their friends they will wear all types of rags in order to belong and being seen as “Happening Chic” in town/campus.

Some even buy this tarty attires, keep them in school and at the same time, buy decent ones also in which they will keep them at home.

Moreover, I think, those that are easily brain-washed, are those that are not highly sanitized or formed. That is why you as a guardian needs to be checking over your wards anywhere they are. Do not think that they are old enough to look after themselves, because peer influence plays a lot of roles in their life.

Another vital issue that result on indecent dressing is imitation, most people imitate without considering their undue effects, because there must be a reason for any occurrence. That is why before trying to imitate, first of all check the reason which resulted to that. If the reason behind such occurrence did not match with your reason for imitation, I think there is no need of doing so.

I think to limit my words to Nigerians, especially the Igbos, because they imitate easily mostly bad ones. What is a taboo in one’s culture may not be in other’s culture. Also what is forbidden in one’s doctrine may be permitted in other’s doctrine. So culture and doctrine are the major factors to be considered before imitating other people’s way of dressing. Other factors that may come in to play are; your family background and atmospheric weather condition of a place.

If all these factors are put into consideration, when imitating other people’s ways of dressing. I think there should be no cause for alarm. All the blunder that goes with imitation must be put to check, if people begin to consider whether it is permissible or a taboo both in the culture and doctrine to wear a particular style or type of attire before imitating it.
