JONATHAN DISAGREES WITH BUHARI OVER RAILWAY CLAIM

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, on Monday, refuted comment awarded to his successor, President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he {Buhari} inherited “no light, bad roads and no railway.”

Buhari, had currently stated that People Democratic Party, PDP left nothing, upon assumption of power last year.

He made the statement in his hometown in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari had said;

I want Nigerians to realise that what this government inherited after 16 years of the PDP government was no savings, no infrastructure, no power, no rail, no road and no security.

On reacting to Buhari’s claim, the former President in a Facebook Post, said he was proud of his achievements especially in the area of rail construction.

Making reference to a piece written by the Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to Buhari, Tolu Ogunlesi, which was published on January 12, 2015,

Jonathan said;

I am grateful to God and my team for what we were able to achieve with our railways, among other things.

Ogunlesi, in the article entitled, ‘The case for and against President Jonathan’ had extolled Jonathan’s achievements.

Jonathan in his Facebook post lifted the quote from Ogunlesi’s piece, 

Let’s start with infrastructure. On the railways, the Jonathan government scores high marks. The railway line between Lagos and Kano has been revived after about two decades of inactivity.

The Enugu-Port Harcourt line has just been launched; Abuja-Kaduna is almost finished. There was a determined push to upgrade airports across the country, for which we are grateful.
