ALANDU: ONLY MIXED BLOOD OF BIAFRAINS FEAR THREAT

I was in bus travelling to Onitsha from Awka, on getting to Enugu-Agidi bus top, an old man entered with small transistor radio on his hand, not quite long he entered, and he on the radio on a medium tuning noise, almost everybody turned, starred at him. Shortly young lady beside him, violently asked him to off the radio that the noise is much, he replied; my daughter I want to listen to radio Biafra. Immediately he mentioned radio Biafra, everybody breath out heavily and calmed there tempers.

I turned and asked him… Papa can I have some conversation with you, I can see you are one of the lovers of Biafra and freedom fighter, He smiled and winked.

Daddy, Can I know your name?

My name is Monday Alandu, alias Dede Monday, from Mbano, Imo state..

How old are you sir?

I’m 75 years,

Hmmm.. So your age grade with President Buhari….

He cuts-in… Buhari is my classmate, though I left North early 50s, when I came down to my home town, I want to further my education but they told me that my performance and the school I attend is very poor, they can’t marge me in any class. So I have to start at fresh.

Why did you leave Northern Nigeria at early 50s?

My parent smell crises, so they departed early to our home town.

From your age, you experience civil war, what can you say about the war?

Odiegwu… is not easy, I fought against Nigeria soldiers at bridge head Onitsha, later they transferred me down to Abagana, I was about to move to Abia state before the civil war stopped.

You said stop… I heard Biafra surrendered?...

He cuts-in… we didn’t surrender, they told us that the war has stopped. When someone is beating drum and you are dancing the beats, once the drummer stops the beats, you also stop the dancing, till the drummer resume again. There is cease fire till further notice, Biafra didn’t surrender, if we surrender let them show us the weapons, agreement or memorandum. They always say, Ojukwu ran to exile, that’s the word they will use to qualified what the saw, but only those that are closed to the light will tell you the source.

They said that Biafrans were not prepare for the war but Ojukwu lured them?

Nobody forced us, we decided to fight the battle with our life, though we are not fully prepared, but the preparation we made could have conquered Nigerians but foreign countries oversaw our efforts and joined Nigeria to fight us, that’s when we started having problem on our stability to attack back, experiencing challenges of weapon etc.

What of challenges like famine?

It’s a peculiar challenge, once there is war, they must be famine, but our own differs because some borders were closed, though all effort prove abortive.

I read how the war started but what motivated Biafrains?

We are descendants of great warriors, we don’t accept humiliation, intimidation or discrimination. Once you try to intimidate a true blood of Biafra, he/she will resists it and willing to die than accepting your humiliation. Before the war, we don’t have much mixed blood, it’s hard to see them. True blood of Biafra doesn’t see his fellow Biafrain facing intimidation, he/she will join to fight back. True blood of Biafrains doesn’t fear war, because they are warriors, agile, gallant and explorers.

Only the mixed blood in Biafra Land fear Nigeria and their threat or war, sabotage, deceive and money hungers.
True blood of Biafra love each other, fight together and help themselves. That’s why we fought togetherness despite of mixed blood among us.

But they used to say Igbo Enwe Eze?

He cuts-in.. Its lie, we are diligent and simple, if you want to show us your smartness we will fight back instantly, take a look of the incident that happened in this bus. I on my radio despite I’m the oldest person in this bus, everyone started agitating till I gave them the reason for doing so, and you saw it as nice thing and accepted it. That’s Biafrains for you, once you give them reason for doing it and they see it as good suggestion, they will abide on you, but if they didn’t accept it, you will find it difficult with them. We are warriors and you can’t take us for granted.

From the recent development do you regret to fight for Biafra?

Mba oh!!! No, I can’t and never will I do so, my painful moment was after the war, how Uwazurike handle the issue of Biafra, but thank God Kanu has come to enlighten many Biafrains what they should know about Biafra.

Driver please I will stop at Nkwelle Junction, May God lead you people well.

Never accept One Nigeria and always identify mixed blood among you.

Hope regained as we waved and said goodbye to him, this was how our conversation with true blood of Biafra ended, how I wish he journeys with us till the last bus top, but hope to meet someone like him again…..
