ARE YOU IN SUFFERING: TAKE A DOSAGE OF CONSOLATION - Episode 2
Previous article titled ARE YOU IN SUFFERING: TAKE A DOSAGE OF CONSOLATION thought us how we can make our burden light and borrow a leaf from Christ.
In this episode we will explain more why we should borrow a leaf from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ was able to gather the whole world because he willingly embraced the cross and the cross signifies suffering. You cannot have a banquet without suffering.
Definitely, after suffering there must be banquet . Suffering is part and parcel of the Christian life. In suffering, we are toughened. What lead to quick spread of gospel was the disposition of the early apostles to embrace their own suffering for the sake of Christ.
That's why when they were persecuted in Perga, you see them run into Pamphylia. As they were going about, they carry their own message, 'the treasure'. St. Paul calls the word of God the 'divine treasure'. As they move about from one country, one city, they preach the word of God and the word if God continues to spread. As a Christian, it is obvious that suffering must come. The scripture says in the John 16:33 " in the world you will have tribulation but be good heart because I have conquered the world ". That means suffering must come.
It is obvious Christ made it clear in Acts of the Apostles that through suffering we enter the promised land. Even the Israelites on their way to the promised land, encountered the Amalekities, the red Sea was there to stop them, and descendants of Anak were there to stop them. They fought vehemently before they entered the promised Land. The problem is that we lack the proper disposition to accept little suffering that cones our way as Christians.
The world in which we are is filled with war. According to Jean Jacque Rousseau, 'man is free but everywhere in chains'. However, as a good Christian, you are entitled to enjoy the dividend of your faith and righteousness. It is obvious, this is non negotiable, what do I mean by that? If you obey the book of law, you will enjoy the fruit of the land, if you are experiencing hardship why not pray that God changes your condition.
If you are experiencing demotions in life, disappointments, why not pray? There is power in prayer and God promised us the special garden, the Garden of Eden. That's why after creating man, he sent man to the the Garden of Eden to enjoy the dividends of his love. So God's love and hope for us according to Jeremiah 29:11 'I have a good plan for you, plans for good and not of disaster, to give you a future filled with hope', futuristic hope.
That means as a child of God you continue to operate in the wave length of God's love and success. This clear. If you run to other god's, you increase your sorrows. In Old Testament, once the Israelites desert their God, you see them suffering and once they amend their ways by going back to God, you see that things will turn around, favour will start coming that is the secret about life.
Most often, we say we are born to suffer, we called to carry our cross. Yes of course that cross is the cross of victory and glory. If you carry your cross with faith and love, your own victory will come.
