WHY WE COLLECT MONEY FROM DRIVERS - VILLAGERS

The uncompleted Federal road that lead from Onitsha to Enugu, which become inaccessible from Udumodu Junction, Umunya to Awkuzu Junction due to high deterioration of the road, transporters and other vehicle drivers divert to one of the uncompleted state road that link Umunya to Nteje in Oyi Local Government Anambra state, the road has been abandoned for some months now.

Chenkele found out that any vehicle that made his way to the state road must give the youth of villagers N50 for bridge maintenance.

when asked one of the money collectors, who spoke anonymously said that the road was abandon by present government due to selfish interest, that they contributed huge sum of money to revive the bridge.

he said; we gather money to put woods on that bridge, so that our village farmers can pass through it, since the governor fails to complete it because say we no vote for him, we dey collect N50 from any driver that cross the bridge so that we will recover our expense and maintain the bridge for our villagers
