3-MONTHS QUIT NOTICE: PREPARE FOR YORUBA NATION NOW – 18 GROUPS TELL SOUTH-WESTERNERS

The O'odua nationalist coalition  (ONAC) has called on the Yoruba to prepare for their own sovereign country.

ONAC said its appeal was in response to the threat of northern groups as well as "the pain and misery of the Yoruba due to the distortion of the development plan of the late Obafemi Awolowo for the Southwest."

ONAC comprises 18 groups, including the Oodua Peoples Congress (OCP), the Oodua Liberation Movement (OLM), the Oodua Republic Coalition (ORC), the Yoruba Revolutionary Congress (YORC), the Muslim-Christian Dialogue Group Oodua (OMDG), Yoruba Students National Front (YOSNF), Oodua Hunters Union, (OHUN) among others.

A statement on behalf of the coalition signed by Micheal Popoola, Oluwole Suleiman and Mrs. Aduke Fadahunsi, on Sunday called on the Yoruba in the Hausa-Fulani North territories to be guided by a strong sense of " History and the fact that they will not be spared by those who claim to be their hosts.

"We advise them to start proposing alternative plans for the inevitable upheavals promoted by the Fulani oligarchy.

"The North has always been the aggressor because of the loss of power in the region and the obvious desire to make Nigeria the irreversible extension of the Fulani emirate.

"What we see is a violent conflict of civilizations that can only be resolved when each region manages to cope.

"In order to keep Nigeria as a country, millions of people have been killed and the lives of children wasted, the future impoverished and the potentials of young men and women Yoruba bottled or chained with iron chains.

"Today we make the historic declaration that the Yoruba are ready for our own Republic of Oduduwa, and we have seen events in recent days, and the cloud is getting thicker.

"It is time for the Yoruba to stand ready to defend our homeland from being seized by the local imperial elements and their collaborators.

"We affirm Yoruba's self-determination and sovereignty, we should work for it, we will update it," said ONAC in the statement.

The group said further "on the Yoruba all over the world to prepare for a sovereign nation for the people of the Southwest. We are more than 50 million and much more than the population of 140 countries in the world."

"Yoruba will be the third largest country in Africa and the 28th biggest country in the world, we are big and competent to be a sovereign nation, we affirm Yoruba self-determination without further delay.

ONAC said with the position of Northern youths asking Igbo to quit the North, the outright demand for Arewa sovereignty by the Northern Elders Forum, (NEF), and the legitimate demand for Biafra by Igbo, the call for a Niger-Delta Republic “It is time for the Yoruba people to stand for Oodua Republic without any further delay.”

“Yoruba people this time will not support any attack on Self determination. We shall mobilise the masses and prevent Yoruba people from being used for any attack on the long suffering indigenous peoples of the South East and the South- South”

ONAC said the quit notice was not against the Igbo alone but also against the Yoruba since “Igbo is not written on the forehead of residents in the North.”
