NNEWI: MORE PROTESTS AGAINST IFEANYI UBAH’S DETENTION


Another protests continued to condemn the continued imprisonment of Capital Oil and Gas President Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, who has been detained by the Public Service Department (DSS) since 6 May.

The protest group this time was a member of the Nnewi Sports Club, who insisted that DSS's refusal to release Ubah, even if it was a competent judicial judgment, constituted a threat to democracy And a violation of its basic human right as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

According to them, since what the oil chief of the capital was accused is a bailable offense, the body should release him as ordered by the Supreme Court of Lagos presided over by Idris Judge and proceed with the negotiation, or Rather it should be referred to the courts.

Led by its President and Secretary General, Engr. Nwabueze Udezue and Mr. Anthony Nduka, respectively, marched to the command of the Nnewi Police Zone, the Central Police Station, Nnewi, the Otolo Police Station and the HRH's traditional HRH palace, HRH Igwe Kenneth Orizu III, freedom of singing Songs that bore signs of different inscriptions.

As for journalists, President Nwabueze Udezue called on the federal government to consider the fate of the many workers employed by Ubah and his other contributions to economic growth, and released him to continue his good work

"Our fear is that the continued detention of the CEO of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Ltd., Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, without trial, will lead not only to the looting of more than 5,000 workers directly and indirectly engaged by their businesses, Investors in Nigeria.

"We believe that no serious foreign investor will want to invest in a country with a history of detention without trial. "We condemn a situation in which people are arrested and denied bail even at the request of a competent court of competent jurisdiction.

"DSS's refusal to comply with the court order is unconstitutional and chooses holes in the very basis of our legal system," he added.
