MIMIKO PERSIST ON RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA

Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, through the Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmadein, has more clearly stick to his confidence in the restructuring of the country even as he submitted that he was misrepresented in a media report published on Thursday over the same subject.

He said;
Fiscal restructuring is part of the holistic restructuring of Nigeria which includes fiscal and political adjustment. The fact that one welcomes what looks like a shift in position as enunciated by Governor AminuTambuwal does not connote a repudiation of the need for total restructuring.
For example, the iniquity visited on the nation by arbitrary and unfair creation of Local Government Areas must be revisited as part of the readjustment of the structure of the federation. Other critical areas include, the relationship between the federal government and the states, zones or regions as the case may be; that is, what in the opinion of Nigerians, should be the federating units.
These and many other issues were addressed at the 2014 confab and it has always been my opinion that opening up all these issues for discussion and consensus, is the only way to curtail the centrifugal forces tending to tear this country apart.
