AGITATION FOR BIAFRA WILL CONTINUE TILL NIGERIANS BENEFITS OF DEMOCRACY

A civic group ActionAid Nigeria said there was no solution to inciting Biafra's secession, unless every section of Nigeria would begin to feel the benefits of democracy. The group said in Abuja during the annual general assembly on the state of the nation.

The group says the federal government has established a process of discussion among citizens, intelligence agencies and the government at all levels.

"The Nigerians are not satisfied with the structure of the federal structure because citizens have not seen the benefits of democracy and have yet to enjoy the wealth of the nation," said the country's director of the group, Ojubo Atuluku.

"There is resentment everywhere, the difference is that the Nigerians do not want to trust our leaders." When our leaders meet to discuss the size of the country, those who are around the table do not want to trust those who are there.

"It is a question of how our leaders represent our interests, transparency and openness." She explained that incitement occurs in different forms in all six geopolitical regions of the country, warning that unless a space is created for debate and fair handing of democratic dividends to the people, more revolutions arise.

Moreover, as chairman of the group, Patricia Donli, warned that there will be perceived marginalization and inequality, and unrest will continue. "People have made good recommendations on how to solve these problems, but nothing has been done, including the proposal of the National Conference on Political Reform, headed by late Nicky Toby," as-she said.

Another leader of the organization, Amaka Azuike, said the main problem that is fueling tensions in Nigeria is tribalism, and predicted that when this is addressed, other causal agents such as greed, immorality and inferiority can act as leadership.

"We must give up myopia that the nation is impossible. "Putting the Nigerian where he comes from will be his first response to be the tribe rather than Nigeria's declaration."

All hands on the deck must be against all matters of war, ethnic, religious and selfish war, "she noted. "We have to declare a king of the nation together and remove the concept of the nation of Biafra," she told Nigeria.
