KADUNA DECLARATION: WE ARE WATCHING DSS ON WHAT THEY WOULD DO - OHANEZE

Assistant Secretary on Publicity of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu asked the State Department and the police to take instant action to prevent any steps to launch attacks on the Igbos living in the Northern part of the country.

Ibegbu responded to a call by a coalition of Northern youth groups labeled "The Kaduna Declaration" on all Igbos residing in any part of northern Nigeria to move to their places of origin within three month.

Ibegbu, who called the declaration of treason, urged the relevant security agencies to come into effect before the Igbos resident in the North are eliminated.

He said: "The DSS, police and other security agencies should take note of the declaration of the Arewa Youth Advisory Forum and other Northern groups for threatening the Igbo.

"This should not be seen as an empty threat, but urgent action is needed to thwart the Igbo attack plan in the north, and it has happened in the past and we do not want it to happen again.

"In fact, Yerima Shettima should be stopped by the DSS immediately. We are monitoring to see what the DSS would do in this situation.

"Shettima's statement is treatable, and it is inciting a section of the country against another section and we know from experience that this kind of thing could lead to a civil war, and its statements could destroy this country."
