SHOW HOW YOU MADE BILLIONS AT NYSC, NDDC - EFCC REPLIES TURNAH

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has rejected the threat of former politician godson Goodluck Jonathan, George Turnah, to institute a N100m defamation suit against him.

The agency also dared to prove how he accumulated his wealth, even though he only worked in the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC and the NDDC.

Turnah had Sunday, through his lawyers, demanded N100m from the EFCC in compensation for alleged defamatory statements against him.

The former special adviser in charge of a former Director-General of the Niger Delta Development Commission is suing N3bn for alleged fraud.

EFCC recently seized more of Turnah's assets.

The anti-graft agency also froze about seven bank accounts by which Turnah would have received billions of naira.

On Monday, South-South EFCC Zonal chief Ishaq Salihu said that the non-right would not compromise the commission of the pursuit of Turnah.
He said, "We took him (Turnah) to court, and we asked the court to give us a confiscation order because he is someone who has never worked anywhere other than the NYSC and the NDDC.

"He worked with the NYSC in 2010 and the rest was in the NDDC so he can not justify the amount of money he has." We should be able to call a spade. To be intimidated in this country.

"We are ready by the truth, we have not acted arbitrarily, we have a charge, and we have brought him before the courts for this." If at the end of the day the judge in his wisdom finds that We do not have a case, even though it is.

"But we've established a prima facie case against him. He's taken over N75m for the beauty contest and paid him N40,000 each (participants, instead of N5m).

"It is someone who received a receipt showing that he paid N25m to a particular television station and at the end, the television station responded to the EFCC that there was no transaction With the man at all.

"We are up to the task. We have one of the best and lightest legal services in Nigeria in the EFCC and we are not intimidated at all.

"We are already in court and we will not deal with him. If someone commits a crime, he or she should be able to make time," said Punch quoting Salihu.
